I have found a new passion!

So i am now totally utterly in love with the spinning wheel!

A dear friend gifted me her lovely and oh so beautiful spinning wheel, with her for more than 40 years. Such a privilege to be the keeper of this treasure!

Textile arts have accompanied me ever since i remember. My grandmother taught me how to crochet, to knit, to embroider, even how to make bobbin lace! I remember being a little girl sitting with the big bobbin lace pillow in front of my knees and my fingers dancing and making sweet music with the bobbins.

I’ve been interested in wool and yarn making for a long time and even gave it a go at spinning with the spindle, but not with much success.

Now the spinning wheel, it was like if we’ve known each other forever! We were instant best friends and by the end of the second day i had already my first ever precious ball of self spun yarn!

Encontrei uma nova paixão!

Estou total e completamente enamorada pela roda de fiar!

Uma querida amiga ofereceu-me a sua maravilhosa e tão linda roda de fiar, com ela há mais de 40 anos. Que privilégio ser a guardiã deste tesouro!

As artes têxteis acompanham-me desde que me lembro de existir. A minha mãe e a minha avó ensinaram-me a fazer crochet, malha, bordar, até a fazer renda de bilros! Lembro-me bem de ser uma menina pequena, sentada com a grande almofada da renda de bilros em frente dos joelhos e os dedos a dançar e a fazer música tão doce com os bilros.

Sinto muito interesse pela lã e pelas formas de obtenção de fio há muito tempo e lancei-me mesmo numas experiências com o fuso, embora sem grande sucesso.

Agora com a roda de fiar foi muito diferente, foi como se nos conhecêssemos desde sempre! Tornámo-nos instantaneamente melhores amigas e, pelo final do segundo dia, tinha já o meu primeiro precioso novelo de lã fiada por mim!
